Sony has produced a sensational pair of true wireless earbuds with the new WF-1000XM4, building on the huge success of the WF-1000XM3 (below).

There’s a lot of variety and dynamics in performance, and it’s a well-balanced one with taut, precise bass notes and refined, clever vocals.

When you remove the WF-1000XM4 from its box, you’ll find a little black charging case. It’s 40% smaller than the charging case that came with the Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds and even smaller than the charging case that came with its predecessors.

The Sonys are also very comfortable to wear, having touch-sensitive controls and noise-isolating ear tips. When you combine this with Sony’s Integrated Processor V1’s excellent noise cancellation, the WF-1000XM4 is impossible to blame.

With new features like beam-forming and a bone conduction sensor that prevents the mics from picking up disturbing ambient sounds while you’re talking, Sony hopes to improve call quality. There’s even an automatic wind noise reduction option that tries to eliminate noise swirls that flow through the headset and into your ears.
